"Imagine that feeling you get when you are doing something so interesting, so moving, that you lose your perception of time. When you are 'in the flow' or 'in the zone'. It takes an alarm, a nudge by someone not in that zone, or a setting sun to focus your energy and put the final touches on what you are doing.

That is the feeling I get when I have a brush in my hand and a subject in front of me. Especially when I'm off on some remote trail surrounded by the sounds of wildlife, rivers, and just the wind. Or in an urban landscape with the light bouncing off the people and buildings. Or in the presence of other artists and an inspiring model.

The best part is that the feeling returns when I share my work. To make a connection to someone else based on a visual. So every hit, every comment, and every display of my work gives me that energy and makes me fired up to get back in the zone again."

Don Thacker has a passion for nature and expressing it visually. His favorite subjects are landscapes and the human form. In 2008 he moved to Atlanta, GA from Dallas, TX, where he conducted a weekly life drawing session for the previous five years.

He travels across the US hiking and plein air painting. As a supporter of the Sierra Club, The National Park Conservation Association, and the U.S. state park systems, the majority of his works are done on public lands. A portion of his landscape painting sales are donated to these organizations promoting our natural resources and environmental preservation.

His work has been shown in Dallas at The Cedars Art Gallery, Nine Eyes Gallery, and Norwood-Flynn Gallery. In Atlanta, he has exhibited in the 13th Annual Telephone Factory Art Show.

Don, Sounds like a plan that

Don,

Sounds like a plan that needs a plan. My phone number is in my bio. I help run a deli right now, and do not have good control of my schedule... so I have to plan ahead for all excursions.
